Early 20th-Century Building Rehabilitation
An architectural film exploring the transformation of an early 20th-century structure through contemporary intervention.
Moving between physical space and digital reconstruction, the film reflects on continuity, absence and renewal.
Light, sound and sequence are used to reveal the latent character of the building rather than simply describe it.
Before & After
This project consists of an architectural film developed to present the rehabilitation proposal of an early 20th-century building, redesigned by the awarded architect Vasco Valsassina.
The film was conceived as a spatial narrative, articulating the historical character of the existing structure with the contemporary intervention. Through a combination of real footage and three-dimensional visualization, the project establishes a dialogue between past and present, emphasizing material continuity, proportion and architectural rhythm.
Parallel Studios was responsible for the original concept, script development and narrative structure, as well as 3D styling and visualization. The integration of a cellist filmed in chroma key and composited within the digital environment introduced a performative layer, reinforcing the atmospheric reading of the space. Voiceover and sound design were developed to support the architectural sequence without imposing external dramatization.
